Where is Lake Haven?
You need only to stand on the shore of Budgewoi Lake and survey your surroundings to understand why the suburb behind you got its name. Lake Haven is just that – a peaceful community with prime lake frontage, ideally located in the north-east corner of the Wyong shire on the New South Wales central coast.
The Wyong region and Lake Haven itself are easily accessible via the M1 Pacific Motorway from Newcastle in the north, or from Sydney in the south. Locals can enjoy the best of waterfront living, with city options within 100 kilometres drive away, or a pleasant train trip on the Central Coast and Newcastle rail line.
Living in Lake Haven
Lake Haven is home to a smallish population of around 3,300 or more people and the local age range tends to be a little older than in nearby suburbs. It’s location and size make it an ideal retirement spot, but it also attracts families with its idyllic climate and lifestyle options. The Lake Haven Centre is ideal for shopping (there’s even a cinema) and Westfield Tuggerah is just 15 kilometres away to the south.
Lake Haven has a number of schools, sporting and social clubs and community facilities, and locals relish the peaceful lifestyle in the area. It’s a popular spot for tourists so traffic can build up on sunny days and holidays, but with everything so close, it’s just as easy to walk and enjoy the local neighbourhoods.
Things to See and Do in Lake Haven
Lake Haven has prime position on the bank of the Budgewoi Lake, the central lake within the Tuggerah Lakes Estuary. To the north is Lake Munmorah and the larger of the three lakes – Tuggerah - is to the south and just a few kilometres walk from Lake Haven. The estuary provides an abundance of things to see and do in Lake Haven, so if you love the great outdoors, it’s here that you will find your own personal Eden. There are more than 110 kilometres of shared pathways throughout the estuary region all easily accessible from Lake Haven. Enjoy the views from under the trees at Goobarabah Point across the lake to Buff Point or take in any number of recreational water activities from boating bird watching.
The town centre also has plenty to offer with a cinema, a bowling alley, golf and lawn bowls clubs and a variety of other local sporting and recreational facilities.

Being a haven on the lake has one big benefit - regardless of the location of houses, Lake Haven properties are always within a few kilometres of the water. Who needs a harbour view when you can walk to the lake at any time of day and regularly share it only with the birds!
