Blue Haven

Just 90 minutes north of Sydney and less than an hour from Newcastle, on the New South Wales Central Coast is the small suburb of Blue Haven. Part of the Wyong Shire, Blue Haven locals enjoy a tranquil bushland setting with both the Wallarah Creek and the Budgewoi Lake within walking distance.

The Wyong region, Blue Haven and its neighbouring suburbs, are easily accessible from most parts of the Central Coast via the M1 Pacific Motorway. Locals can enjoy the best of coastal living, with city options within manageable reach. Commuters can enjoy a pleasant train trip in either direction on the Central Coast and Newcastle rail line, with Wyee Station less than 10 minutes away.

Living in Blue Haven

Blue Haven has a population of just over 6,000 people, many of whom live and work in the local Wyong Shire. The suburb is close enough to the estuary and the lakes for locals to enjoy them as their own, while it also enjoys natural bush and creeks along 3 of its 4 borders. Blue Haven has a number of primary schools and San Remo’s Northlakes High School is just across the Pacific Highway, educating over 1000 students from the eastern part of the shire. Locals can shop at Coles in San Remo, but there is also an Aldi in Blue Haven itself and Westfield Tuggerah is just 20 kilometres away.

Things to See and Do in Blue Haven

There are more than 110 kilometres of shared pathways throughout the estuary region and Blue Haven is one of the highlights on a walk that extends right along the northern side of the Budgewoi Lake and continues as far as Norah Head to the west of Tuggerah Lake. The scenery and views along the water in these areas are truly spectacular.

There are also a number of water based activities such as canoeing, sailing and fishing to be enjoyed. Local boat owners can spend hours just gliding through the waterways and taking in the serenity and the wildlife.

Young people in Blue Haven can make use of the local parks, as well as the oval, the skate park, the basketball courts and the community centre. Rugby is popular in Blue Haven with participants ranging in age from 6 years old right into their 20s.

Blue Haven Accommodation

When looking for property, with the aim of an address near the estuary and the lakes, houses in Blue Haven offer good opportunities. It’s close enough to still allow enjoyment of the natural environment, but also avoids the tourist vehicle and foot traffic that suburbs closer to the water may sometimes be challenged by.

Houses along Blue Haven’s western edge get the best of both worlds with the creek in their back yard and the lake just down the road. There is an older more established part of Blue Haven, but much of the suburb is made up of large relatively new brick homes, that take up much of the block space, offering good options for families looking to upsize to more space.
